GPT Image 2.6 vs Nano Banana 2.1: choose by deliverable

Compare the workflow for product photos, posters and animated assets. Start with the file you need, then test the same brief.

Reviewed November 6, 2026

Editorial comparison, not a broad model benchmark. Unless explicitly labeled as GPT model test results, images are existing prompt-library examples with unverified original settings. The 2.5 vs 2.6 portrait section includes two new matched-prompt GPT Image outputs and their request records.

Arena · Single Image Edit

Displayed snapshot: November 2, 2026; inspected November 6. Its cutoff predates the public 2.6 release, so the update alignment is unclear. Treat these as displayed historical values, not a verified November 6 ranking. Quality labels and vote counts differ.

Arena measures human preferences in head-to-head comparisons. Its scores are not percentages of image quality. Text-to-image and editing boards measure different tasks. Arena · rankings and confidence intervals

Artificial Analysis · AA-Image-T2I v2.1

The inspected AA board has no GPT Image 2.6 entry. Its Elo scale differs from Arena; do not subtract or combine scores across them. AA uses blind human comparisons, a 1:1 aspect ratio and seed 42 where supported.

What the evidence supports

In the displayed Arena snapshots, 2.6 Sunburst Medium scores above Nano Banana 2.1 on both tasks. This is preference evidence, not a text-accuracy or product-fidelity percentage. AA lists Nano Banana at 1175 ±12 (6,341 samples), but no 2.6 entry is available there.

Google’s per-image equivalents cover image output; input, text/thinking, search and retries can add cost. For a batch of 100 1K outputs, that output component is $3.36, not the entire project bill. Compare it with actual token usage, not this studio’s retail credit price.

Product photos: inspect the object, not the atmosphere

Product photo example from the existing prompt library

Run one product brief on each service with the same reference photo and requested crop. Compare the handle, label, reflections and shadow at 100%. A beautiful background does not compensate for a changed product. This page does not claim a quality winner without matched outputs.

Posters: test the exact headline

Travel poster example from the existing prompt library

Use the same short headline in quotation marks and specify reading order. Score spelling, margins and legibility at the final display size. Google’s Nano Banana tools focus on image generation and editing; choose between services using your own poster brief rather than a general leaderboard.

Motion and vectors change the workflow

Vector fox logo example from the existing prompt library

For a mascot loop or editable vector, start with the required format. This studio offers GIF and SVG directly. It does not run Nano Banana, and no Google output is shown here. Check the exact Google tool’s current export options before budgeting an animation or tracing step.

Questions before you choose

Which model has better image quality?

Independent preference data is shown above; this site has not run a matched generation test of both models. Compare accepted outputs, retries and total cost on your actual briefs.

Can I use Nano Banana in this generator?
